Elizabeth Olsen Thinks Scarlet is Avenger

Elizabeth Olsen explains why she believes Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch is the most powerful Avenger in the MCU. After WandaVision, the character is re-emerging in the franchise through Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The sequel will see Wanda going up against Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), which will settle who really is the more powerful between them.

Doctor Strange's involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home and his attempt to help Peter Parker (Tom Holland) sets up his arc in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As for Wanda, the events of WandaVision act as the launching pad for her story. Plot specifics are still scant at the moment, but it has been confirmed that the Darkhold is corrupting Wanda. Between that and her desperation to find her boys, it's safe to assume that she is willing to embrace her dark side to get to her goals. Unfortunately for her, she'll have to face Doctor Strange if she wants to fully wreak havoc. As the press junket for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness begins, Olsen explains why she believes that Scarlet Witch is the strongest Avenger (via alias on Twitter). The actress reveals that she can beat anyone in the MCU and the reason why there are still doubts about that is because she "always has to make the choice to step back from something," meaning that she has been holding back.

The argument for who the strongest Avenger is has been going on for a while now. Initially, the contest was only between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). As the franchise expanded, however, and many more powerful characters were introduced, the competition has slowly become more complicated. Even Marvel Studios couldn't settle the debate as they change the winner every so often. Most recently, it has been Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), but as Wanda becomes more prominent in the universe, her name is now often considered in the list. Whether or not Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actually gives fans a definitive answer is unknown, but it will be fun to see Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange go all out against each other. Wanda is poised to be the primary villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But beyond the events of the upcoming MCU film, her fate is unknown. There's very little chance that Marvel Studios will unceremoniously end her arc in the sequel. Given that, expect her role in the franchise to only get bigger moving forward. As she grows more powerful over time, there will undoubtedly be other new Avengers introduced to the MCU, but it's safe to say Wanda will always be one of the strongest.
